About

Cuyuna Rock, Gem & Mineral Society

The Cuyuna Rock Club derives it’s name from the legendary Cuyler Adams and his faithful dog Una who accompanied him in many lone prospecting trips.

Cuyler Adams was a prospector, discoverer, and mine owner of the Cuyuna Range. He confirmed the discovery of workable iron ore deposits nearby, and credited the discovery to himself and the valuable aid of his dog Una.

His discovery gave rise to a robust iron mining era in the early 1900’s creating the surrounding towns of Crosby, Deerwood, Cuyuna, Ironton and Trommald.
